Perched at an altitude of 1,400 metres, on the edge of a vast forest, Casa Espongeiro, a family-run guesthouse, welcomes you to sleep or dine while you're here. With its 4 bedrooms and terrace overlooking the Planalto Leste, this is the ideal base for trekking, allowing you to take a breather for a night or two. On-site catering is available at all times: dinner, lunch and snacks made with homemade sourdough bread. Donkeys and mountain bikes are available for hire to explore the forest paths on the plateau dotted with sleeping volcanoes.

I was very happy that I booked this place for our trip to Santo Antão. It is up into the mountains, which makes it a very special place. Alain and his wife took very good care of us. In the evening, they provide a very good dinner. Just like breakfast in the morning. It is a good place to hike from, but also to book a tour to discover more from the island. I would definitely recommend to stay here!

Perfecte uitvalsbasis voor alle richtingen, heerlijk eten, aandachtige hulp bij al je vragen. Wij kwamen binnen een week terug omdat we het hier zo fijn vonden.

Super schöner Ort mitten im Grünen. Excellentes lokales Essen welches größtenteils aus dem eigenen Garten kommt.
Der Inhaber spricht gutes Englisch. Das Personal ist generell super nett und aufmerksam. Wir haben es sehr genossen. Tipps zu zahlreichen Wanderungen bekommt man hier auch. Generell ist der Ort perfekt für Wanderungen.
Internet ist nicht vorhanden, aber das ist auch mal sehr schön.

Wir können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen, einfach unvergesslich.

Meine Frau und ich hatten eine wunderbare Zeit bei Alain und seiner Familie. Das Haus liegt in einer sehr schönen Umgebung. Es ist einfach und gleichzeitig liebevoll gestaltet und schmiegt sich in die sehenswerte Umgebung ein. Das Essen war in seiner Vielfalt und der Art und Weise, wie man gemeinsam isst wirklich umwerfend. Alain kann perfekte Tipps zur Insel geben.
