Weiz was built around a small church on the Weizberg, first mentioned in 1065. At the end of the 12th century, the granting of a market by Luithold III of Sankt Dionysen-Waldstein encouraged the beginning of its development. Radmannsdorf Castle was built in 1550 and Thannhausen Castle in 1585. In 1809 the town was occupied by Napoleonic troops. Today, it is a modern and dynamic small town that values its heritage while developing a beautiful quality of life around a tramway and many services to the population. It is a pleasant town for a stopover, or even for a stay with a stroll around.
