It's the market of the popular and trendy 18th district. The Kutschkermarkt's offer is of excellent quality and varied with fruit, vegetables, bread, fish, wine, fruit juices and jams. The flower stalls of the florists add to its charm. Here you can remember Irene Pöhl, one of the pioneers of the market with Pöhl's Käsestand, the city's most famous cheese dairy, and right across the street is Pöhl's Canteen with its sensational breakfast, lunch menu, cheese plates and omelettes.

KARMELITERMARKT

In the former Jewish quarter, now one of the city's trendiest and friendliest, the Karmelitenmarkt, which has existed on the square of the same name since 1671, is constantly expanding its gastronomic offering. You'll find delicatessens opening their own restaurants, such as Zimmer 37 with its vegetarian cuisine, and fresh, hearty breakfasts nearby at Café-Bar Einfahrt. There are also pizzas, hamburgers, an Austrian wine bar, a beisl for aperitifs... On certain Saturdays, the Slow Food Vienna association runs a stand at the market.

It is the biggest, most famous, most touristic, if not the most authentic market. Some will prefer the small neighbourhood markets. That said, with nearly 120 stalls, you have plenty to stock up on! And for the pleasure of the eyes, the Naschmarkt is still a beautiful and colourful market. You will find a variety of stalls and tables, from the most Viennese to the most exotic, from India to Vietnam and southern Italy. At the entrance to the market, there is a well-stocked wine library. Prefer off-peak hours.
