BJARNARHÖFN FARM SHARK MUSEUM
A small museum dedicated to the Greenland shark where you can taste the famous Icelandic pheasant shark
Here, some twenty kilometers west of Stykkishólmur (access via route 577), is a small museum dedicated to the Greenland shark, where you can taste the famous pheasant shark (or "hákarl"), of which the farm is the largest producer (beware, the taste is very particular...). The team will be proud to show you how it's prepared. The site, where the farm and a 19th-century church stand, was occupied in the early 10th century by Björn Ketilsson, a settler from Norway.
