ROUTE 56

Here's one of the most scenic routes you could take on your trip to Iceland. Route 56 takes you from the north to the south of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, including access to Stykkishólmur from or to the capital. It takes you to the Kerlingarskarð plateau, whose natural peaks form a veritable barrier. Completely asphalted and in very good condition, this road with a certain gradient is nonetheless very impressive if you're not used to mountain roads. Take care!
