Hills of ten particular aspects, formed by gigantic landslides, located near the road 1

Here is a phenomenon that you don't often see: hills by the dozen! In this valley near Route 1, you can see a cluster of peculiar-looking hills stretching across the valley of Vatnsdalur. They were probably formed by a gigantic landslide on the slopes of Víðidalsfjall. The three mounds to the north of the road, called Thrístapar, form the site of the last executions in Iceland. The place is worth seeing and is marked by a memorial.
