The museum traces the history of the town and the fjord through various objects and works of art. Temporary exhibitions are also organised in the summer on various themes such as historical walks, a singing evening in the museum church, a market day in Laufás, Christmas preparations in Laufás, etc. The museum's small church with walls blackened by tar plaster (the oldest in the town) also hosts the Summer Nights Singing Festival.

An interesting museum for the whole family
Well-designed exhibits and the museum's beautiful garden with its 19th-century church are not to be missed if you visit Akureyri. Interesting and unique objects can be found in exhibits relating to the Viking period, ages, religion and daily life in Eyjafjörður and Akureyri in the past.
Opening hours: Daily from June 1 to September 15, 9 a.m. to 5 a.m.
