We were traveling with our teen grandchildren. Flight to Toronto cancelled as were all flights because of wild wind and rain storm. Icelandair responded promptly and bussed us to Hotel Reykavik Marina when it was finally safe to drive. We were warmly welcomed by Kevin at 1am. We ended up staying two nights. After rebooking flight, Hlin worked most of the next morning to organize the second night through Icelandair. Kevin on duty again that night and even helped us order pizza! These two front desk staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful. Every staff member from restaurant to cleaning were friendly and engaging. The rooms were comfortable and uniquely decorated. The lobby and other public rooms were so cozy and welcoming. We would highly recommend this hotel and felt incredibly fortunate to be placed here so we could enjoy it.
After arriving from a transatlantic trip, I had enquired if I could check in early. Was brusquely told by the front desk "Absolutely not, no way". Which is fine, I get it - asking for a room at noon is out of the norm. Then while I was hanging out in the lobby, I saw rooms being given away to people who were walking in.
Normally, I'd let this go but I was so tired and in need of a shower so I approached the agent again, where I was told quite rudely, that the room was simply not ready.
Without caring to investigate further, I changed in the lobby washroom and went about my day.
Customer service was very much inexistant. And as for the rooms, there were cheeky signs pointing out to how the washroom was small and how better it would be to hang out in the lobby (?!). There were no closets, and it was pretty much a closet with a twin bed at the end of the room against the 3 walls. This could be the way things are, and perhaps I am out of my cultural gauge, but I am sure you can do better than this hotel, as certainly this wasn't the cheapest of the options around.
This hotel is easy to find. We saw it as soon as we arrived at Mihu Lake. The nearby craters, hot springs, and waterfalls are not far away. It takes about half an hour to eat in the restaurant of this hotel. Beef Lamb is good, 850 RMB per person , there are quite a few red wines that are not ordered. The hotel room is not very big, the bed is a bit small. There is a happy hour in the bar, where many people gather and chat.
I'm sorry to say first thing that this is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in. In Australian money I am paying well over $600 a night which frankly is ridiculous. So I expected some kind of luxury but no. My room overlooking the street. Ok I had a balcony. This is a plus. But there was nothing else that was not to be found in a basic room. Ok this is Iceland and I knew it would be expensive. So I will live with it. Otherwise the staff were excellent. Helpful. Nice bar downstairs.
Right across the street from the lake and just a few minutes drive from the area’s sites, this hotel is in a great location. The lobby is unique, and they have a great snack bar where you can buy grab and go drinks and snacks. There are two small hot tubs on the patio, and meals are offered in their onsite restaurant or at a place across the parking lot.
The room was a good size and had coffee maker and an electric kettle with tea. There were L’Occitane products in the shower, which was a nice treat.
I deducted a star because the bathroom was smelly- I think the drain was clogged because the shower drained really slowly. The room was also super stuffy and hot- but only one window opened and between the bugs and the noise from the people in the hot tubs, it wasn’t ideal. I didn’t sleep well at all, which was a shame because the bed was comfortable.
Uhmm… am I missing something ? Expensive for pretty much a room the size of a camper. The toilet is basically in the shower . And the view - well… I’m definitely missing something ????
I don’t understand why there is never an email reply. I booked for two days and wanted to return one day. When I proposed, it was 9 days before check in. I sent an email and no one responded. I called and said it was ok, and then I was still asked to send an email. No one cares about me.Until I talked about this problem at the front desk and provided all the screenshot evidence, I have been away from Iceland for more than a week, and no one has responded to my email. I spent 2 nights and only stayed for 1 night. There is a big problem with the management of this hotel. The communication between the top and bottom is not smooth. The front desk has no decision-making power. You have to ask the manager for everything, and the manager never responds to emails. If you don’t want to make trouble, I suggest not to consider it.
WLAN sehe gut.
Location by the harbour was really good. Modern. Room was fairly small, but well equipped. It did get a bit loud at night; breakfast room was full quickly. Food was good.

Great hotel. Rooms were nice, although a little loud when windows were open to cool room down on hot days. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet and nice small group sitting and meeting areas. Near ice cream and fly over Iceland.

Thank you for you lovely review ! it was a pleasure having you as our guest.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The room was spacious and comfortable, and having the corner room was SUCH a treat, just look at that amazing view!!! The staff was very helpful and accommodating after booking dot com didn’t tell them we had three people, and they took care of it right away. The place was very clean, and I really liked how it was decorated and how it looked. Our beds were comfortable and there were also a bunch of outlets, which is really a necessity these days! I’d definitely stay here again if I were back in this town.

We had a good diner in the restaurant
Adding a refrigerator will make it even better
