STEAM ENGINE - FORMER LEROY FACTORY
Steam engine at the Leroy cheese-box factory, listed on the Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques (Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments)
In 1906, Georges Leroy installed this 1.97 m long cylinder steam engine, which he had seen in operation at the World's Fair, to meet the electricity needs of his "factory for small nailed and stapled boxes". Supervised and maintained by a controller, it remained in operation until 1957. Today, it is on display in a room of the former boiler house, now converted into a media library. The chip dryer was located at the rear of the building.
