Cliffs where many birds nest, black-legged kittiwakes, with an ornithological reserve, with a black sand beach

The long black sandy beach of Dyrhólæy is cut by a 120 m high promontory, ending in an arched point that juts out into the sea (Háidrangur). These cliffs are particularly popular as they are home to many birds, including the famous puffin! If you take a walk up there, avoid getting too close to the edge, and look out for the countless puffin burrows hidden in the vegetation. During the nesting season in June, access is limited. Don't forget to wrap up warm, even if the weather's fine - the wind is strong!

Beautiful cliff, with rocky mountain peaks in the sea. A site not to be missed. Huge black sand beach with sea with strong waves. Set in the other stop at the lighthouse to see the site also further.
