The Markarfljót valley is your first encounter from the trail once you leave the road. Very wide at first, the volcanic sand alluvium soon begins to bite into the green pastures until it runs partly up the sides of Mount Eyjafjall. It is from there that one passes the first ford followed by so many others that one does not count them any more. The edges of the valley are uniformly green, a lunar and green landscape at the same time. In the distance, the Stóra-Dímon, stands alone in the middle of the sandy plain.

très belle vallée ou l'on traverse d'innombrables gués et les pâturages sont d'un beau vert flou ,ce fût une très belle randonnée malgré un temps maussade
