Another big farm of another powerful clan, high place of culture in the th and th centuries. Sæmundur the Wise, hero of a large number of tales and popular legends, was also from here. His great grandson, Jón Loftson (1124-1197), who was at the time the most powerful man in Iceland, éduquait at home Snorri Sturluson, the man who was to become one of the greatest historians and writers of sagas.
