A place of legend for many travellers, where trains linking the port of Djibouti to the Ethiopian capital used to depart.

It was from here that the trains of the mythical line that linked the port of Djibouti to the Ethiopian capital departed. A place of legend for many travellers. The building is disappointing, but in a city that lacks old buildings, you won't get a good deal of attention. Unfortunately, the building is on the verge of disappearing. Today, trains on the new railway line between Djibouti and Ethiopia leave from Nagad station, 15 km from the city centre.

Un bâtiment abandonné...
Un site décevant car laissé à l'abandon. Le bâtiment colonial a gardé sa grandeur mais il est désormais squatté et taggé... et loin du centre. Seulement pour les passionnés...

L'ancienne gare est actuellement à l'abandon, servant de squat à de nombreux sans-abris. De nombreux wagons et locomotives de l'époque sont encore sur place, fortement délabrés. Un projet de musée pourrait naitre dans les bâtiments qui viennent d'être isolés du reste de la zone.
La nouvelle gare est une grande bâtisse moderne, sans aucun charme, mais qui parait très fonctionnelle, située à l'extérieure de la ville.

L'ancienne gare étant désaffectée, nous avons pu visiter la nouvelle gare à côté de Nagad et c'est fabuleux. Je pense que j'essaierais un voyage en train vers l'Ethiopie.
