CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS (KOSTOL SV. MIKULÁŠA)

It is the oldest monument in the city. Around the church, you will notice the traces of ancient fortifications. Written records seem to prove that the church already existed in Roman times and that this first church provided the foundations for this Gothic church, the first of its kind to be built in the Liptov Valley. Reshaped in the 16th and 17th centuries to correspond to the Baroque taste, it became a Protestant temple until the end of the 17th century.
