FORTIFICATIONS (MESTSKÉ OPEVNENIE)

For centuries, these fortifications played an important role in the lives and destinies of the people of Trnava. These fortifications are among the oldest medieval protective enclosures in Slovakia. With a length of 3 km and a surface area of 56 ha, they have completely encircled the old town since the ^13th century. In the past, they were reinforced with 35 towers and lined with moats, traces of which are still visible today.
