ABBATIALE DE SAINT-SEVER
Gothic abbey church in Saint-Sever, a pretty village full of character
This pretty village of character comes alive around its Abbatiale, the church of the former abbey, and its pleasant garden. On the site of a Romanesque church rebuilt between the 13th and 15th centuries, the Gothic church contains several treasures: a domed roof, a 1697 bell tower standing alone in the square, and the monks' lodgings now occupied by the town hall. Inside, admire the ribbed crossing, the horizontal central pillars and the wooden statues, including that of Saint-Sever, a 1716 painting by François de La Vente.
