A hotel recommended and not only for its original francophilie! Strategically located, nestled in a quiet courtyard of the building, it offers 28 ultra-cosy rooms in a decor that makes it look like a doll's house. The rooms are very well arranged and spacious for the centre of Moscow. All in all, the price is very competitive. The breakfasts are copious and offer champagne on weekends. This competitor of Airbnb works a little bit the same way, so you have apartments for all tastes depending on whether you want to be located in the center of Moscow, close to the Red Square and the Bolshoi or a little bit more out of town. Hotel Pokrovka is really ideally located. It is just a few minutes away from the Kitai-gorod metro, at the intersection of two main lines, a few minutes walk from the Kremlin and its Red Square and in a festive but not party district where bars and restaurants are all more friendly than each other. The hotel itself is rather small but we love the modern and colourful decoration of its rooms. The staff is really welcoming, speaks English perfectly and gives lots of good tips to visit the city. Great cocooning atmosphere.

This friendly youth hostel is located in the historic centre of Moscow, a 15-minute walk from Red Square and very close to the Tretyakov Gallery. The rooms are simply furnished and the common bathroom is located in the corridor. The fully equipped kitchen and living room with satellite TV and board games are available free of charge. Located in the new building of the famous Moscow Hotel, it hosted high party dignitaries and diplomatic visits during the Soviet period. It lost some of its lustre with the fall of the USSR, destroyed and then rebuilt identically and more comfortably in 2004 in a controversial real estate deal. Surprisingly, the Russian capital's indetrônable five-star palace does not command excessive prices compared to other luxury establishments in the area.
