THE WITCHBALL

British restaurant €€

A witchball is what was hung in the windows of country houses in 18th-century England to ward off evil spirits! Some say the house dates back to the 15th century! Opened in 2007, this pub in the picturesque village of Lizard is in fact the most southerly in the UK, with a pleasant terrace and small garden. It serves some good, simple dishes, including fish of the day, burgers and even pizzas. There's also a good selection of Cornish beers. One of our favorite local spots.

POLPEOR CAFE

British restaurant

It's like being at the end of the world in this small café clinging to the cliffs at the southernmost tip of England. A few tables welcome visitors on a wind-protected terrace facing the wild, green landscape. You can enjoy cakes and tea, as well as crab, shrimp and fish dishes of the day. It's a pleasant place to stop before exploring the cliffs and surrounding area. Grab your binoculars and you'll be able to watch seals and cormorants from the comfort of your chair, while sipping a St Ives beer.
