RAUL LEONI DAM
More known under the name El Guri, the second largest power station in the world supplies 70% of the country's electricity (capacity of 10 million kilowatts), and on the Gran Sabana road a very high voltage line starts feeding northern Brazil.
Built on the Caroní, where it is the narrowest (350 m anyway), the concrete monster has a water reserve of 5 000 km 2 and measures 4 km on a height of 272 m.
During the visit, one can also take a look at the solar watch of Luis Pantin Herrera and the kinetic work of Alejandro Otero. It is noted that the worshippers of Otero can go to the park La Navidad where the great sculptor has signed a rotary Christmas tree. You can stay on the premises: a cheap and inexpensive hotel built by the dam technicians is at your disposal. Camping possible at the entrance.
