Formed at the meeting of Puerto Ordaz and San Félix, at the confluence of the Caroní and Orinoco, Ciudad Guiana was established 7 times. The first foundation dates back to 1595; the last is due to American architects in 1961. Puerto Ordaz is the modern city, the fifth largest of the country, which continues to increase its urban development and which has an important industrial potential, including the Guri hydroelectric power Plant, which you can visit. It is therefore a town of executives, characterized by large cold boulevards that abandon the dreadful (but at least authentic) working city of San Félix, with its port and its bad reputation. Puerto Ordaz is fade, touring tourism (a little) and industry (many). We're not rushing here. It is only going to go to the wild Guiana. After Puerto Cabello and Barquisimeto, it is between Puerto Ordaz and San Feliz that the second train in Venezuela circulates. He loads the iron from Cerro Bolívar and Altamira to make small stainless steel balls (planta) to be exported to Europe, Japan and the United States. City of passage, we will not dwell on this economic capital.
