The Pantheon building is a former church, which once lived in the baptism of Bolívar. During the 1812 earthquake, one of the columns of the church, rolling up to the present place Bolívar, destroyed the gallows where the independence was hanged. In 1875, having ordered the restoration of the church, Guzmán Blanco decided to make it the National Pantheon. Since 1876, the Pantheon houses the ashes of Libertador, guarded by soldiers, as well as the remains of its three aides, its secretary, the father of President Blanco and his Guardian, Simón Rodríguez. Go to a guard, just before noon. Among the 138 eminent characters resting in these places are two women: pianist Teresa Carreño and the independence Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi. Two tombs remain empty, that of Francisco de Miranda, dead in a prison in Cadiz, Spain, and thrown into a communal grave, and that of Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, buried in the Quito Cathedral in Ecuador. In addition to representing the village mausoleum, the Pantheon contains important works of art and an incredible Baccarat crystal collection.
