GRAN FIRA DE VALENCIA

The Gran Fira de Valencia was first celebrated in Valencia in 1871. At that time, the city was deserted by its inhabitants with the arrival of the hot summer weather. That is why the local authorities decided to organize a series of events to animate the city. The first edition of the Feria brings together pavilions and exhibitions of all kinds of products. The Feria evolved in 1891 with the establishment of a great Flower Battle celebrated on the last Sunday of the month. On this occasion, tanks crossed the city throwing hundreds of thousands of carnations into the air. During the first half of the month, the International Music Band Competition, established in 1886, takes place. The Palais de la Musique and the Valencia arenas are the setting for this prestigious competition.
