Old anti-aircraft shelter designed by the local architect Josep M. Vives Castellet and dug in the Plaça del Blat , in Valls

This former air raid shelter played a decisive role for the people of Valls during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Designed by the local architect Josep M. Vives Castellet and dug in the Plaça del Blat, in the center of Valls, in 1938 to prevent the possibility of bombing, it was a shelter in the form of underground galleries reinforced by brick walls, 8 meters deep and extending (today) about 55 meters long.
