Discover this military complex, the most important monument in terms of surface area in Catalonia

This military complex, built between 1753 and 1766, is the largest monument in Catalonia and one of the largest fortresses in Europe. Fortifications, residential buildings, unfinished church, parade ground, etc. Due to the size of the site, the visits are divided into two parts (interior and exterior). The tour of the ramparts, 2,500 m long, is done in a 4x4 vehicle. It includes the underground visit of the counter-mines, but also navigation on board light boats.

Un fort très intéressant à visiter; je recommande la visite complète avec la ballade dans les douves. On peut y passer un long moment car c'est grand. Le personnel guide est très sympathique et compétent. Il est facile de se représenter ce qu'était la vie dans une forteresse car les installations sont en bon état et les explications très riches.
