60 miles from Penjikent. Urmetan emerges as an oasis of greenery in the middle of the rocky pans. This traditional village with its battling houses climbing on the side of the mountain was one of the important centers of Kouristan in the Middle Ages. You can see the ruins of the citadel overlooking the valley. The mosque of the xixe is also a place of pilgrimage: at the bottom of the garden, in a mausoleum dating from the tenth century, lies the grave of an Iranian missionary and his wife.
