BLITZ VINTAGE DEPT STORE

Shopping mall
5/5
1 review

If you're looking for a trendy place to pick up the latest London trends, rush to this temple of vintage fashion. Housed in a beautifully renovated former furniture factory, this department store formerly known as Blitz instantly put the capital's other vintage boutiques to shame when it opened in 2011. Atika is 1,000 m² on two floors dedicated to vintage: the selection is well presented and dazzling in its variety and quantity... You won't be disappointed!

Inaugurated in 2011, this gigantic shopping center is Europe's largest, with 175,000 m² of stores and restaurants. It was built in the capital for the 2012 Olympic Games and has since become one of the city's major shopping destinations. There's something for everyone, with over 280 stores and almost 70 restaurants. On site are big names like John Lewis, Marks & Spencer (of course) and Waitrose, as well as a casino, a huge Vue cinema, hotels... It's a safe bet for shopping.

It's the equivalent of our Galeries Lafayette. Selfridges is renowned for its ultra-fashionable window displays. You'll find all the major designers, as well as high street fashion brands. On the food floor, you'll find top-quality products, with a vast selection of cheeses and charcuterie. The store also offers a small tour of the gastronomic world: fresh Italian pasta, Belgian chocolates, Indian spices, French wine... and all often at much more affordable prices than some of its competitors.

LAMB'S CONDUIT STREET

Shopping mall

Independent shops and craftsmen have taken over this street.... Here the Starbucks was immediately chased away by the community of merchants who are campaigning for no large chains to be established on their territory. And they are quite right! The famous rue de Conduit Street is therefore a haven of peace for epicureans. Organic restaurants, grocery stores selling independent farm products, fashion designers, craftsmen and booksellers offer you a quiet, pleasant and independent shopping trip in the heart of Bloomsbury. Away from the big chains.

BOXPARK SHOREDITCH

Supermarket €€

Originally, the first "pop-up mall" (a temporary shopping center) was created here in 2012 for a renewable five-year period, using stacked containers to house some 30 small boutiques of independent brands and pop-up stores specializing in fashion, the arts, gastronomy and more. The boutiques change regularly. The Box Park also features several ephemeral cafés offering a diverse range of world cuisine. You can find the same concept at Wembley and Croydon, an original idea!

HARVEY NICHOLS

Department store €€€

Created in 1813, Harvey Nicks, as it is commonly known, is the temple of haute couture. He wants to be Harrods' rival. All the biggest names in fashion are to be found there, at prices that are once again completely unaffordable. This is the favorite store of the members of the "Twin Set and Pearls" club (skirt, matching cardigan and the essential pearl necklace). After closing, the 5th floor can still be reached by external stairs to reach the restaurants and cafés, whose reputation for quality continues. Great luxury!

John Lewis & Partners

Decoration store €€

A very good address in many fields, including tableware, kitchenware, beauty items, linen, bedding, fabrics and haberdashery in general, and even household appliances. The company's policy is to sell clothing and, above all, furniture and home accessories at reasonable prices. The items are more basic than original, but if you look hard enough, you'll always find something nice. It's the London equivalent of our Parisian department stores. Something for everyone.

BURLINGTON ARCADE

Shopping mall

Close to the Royal Academy of Arts is the Burlington Arcade, a beautiful shopping arcade that still boasts its original Georgian facades. Built in 1819 by Lord Cavendish, it was the first arcade in London to house stores. Today, the Burlington Arcade continues to charm visitors with its elegance and refinement, offering a very British window-shopping experience. The cobbled alleys and beautifully decorated shop windows create a timeless atmosphere that immerses you in the charm of old London.
