A beautiful church, with an original decoration, one of the most surprising of the Venice lagoon.

The Chiesa Santa Maria Assunta (also known as Chiesa dei Gesuiti) is surprising for its singular decoration dating from the early 18th century. Beyond its beautiful baroque facade decorated with a Madonna in Assumption, it stands out for its main altar, covered with a green and white damask fabric. It is in fact a marble trompe-l'oeil, sculpted in bas-relief with remarkable finesse. The Martyrdom of St. Lawrence (Titian) and theAssumption of the Virgin (Tintoretto) are also to be admired.
