PORTA MONTANARA
Rimini, the ancient Ariminum, still preserves several remains of its Roman fortifications, testifying to its strategic past as a crossroads of imperial routes. In addition to the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge, the Porta Montanara was built in the 1st century BC. It was located at the southern end of the cardo maximus (Via Giuseppe Garibaldi). One of its two arches was walled up in the 1st century AD; the second was moved and restored close to its original position. For further information, there's a " Roman Route in the Historical Center of Rimini " itinerary.
