PIAZZETTA DEI LEONI
The most emblematic square of the city surrounded by patrician houses in Albenga.
This is the town's most emblematic square. Surrounded by patrician residences built between the 14th and 16th centuries and dominated by a 14th-century crenellated tower, it takes its name from the three stone lions that decorate it. The elegant Palazzo Balestrino closes off one side of the square: inside, it houses a collection of Roman steles and busts of great historical value. One stele mentions the reconstruction of the Roman city of Albenga by General Costanzo in the5th century.
