This famous 38m-high red and white lighthouse, built in 1886, is one of Ouistreham’s landmarks.
Get a bird's eye view of Ouistreham's red and white lighthouse, an emblematic structure that makes the town's inhabitants proud. It was commissioned in 1905 to replace its predecessor, built in 1886, and automated in 1993. Standing 38 metres high and visible for 16 nautical miles around, it keeps a watchful eye on the Orne estuary. It warns of the dangerous rocks of Calvados 7.5 miles away, thanks to a red sector showing sailors the direction. Don't hesitate to climb the 171 steps to access the optic. The view is breathtaking.
