Petit Futé's opinion on THE FLAME

Vintage plate 2020

Monument symbolic of the Liberation, inaugurated on June 6, 1984, and work of the Cognac artist Yvonne Guégan. It is engraved with the names of the 177 French commandos placed under the command of Commander Philippe Kieffer. On the monument, on 6 June 2019, a granite statue of Commander Kieffer joined the bronze one, dedicated to Lord Lovat, inaugurated in May 2014 as a tribute to the Scottish general who landed on D-Day at the head of 2,500 green berets, including, precisely, the1st Battalion of Marine Fusiliers Commandos of Commander Kieffer.
