Symbolic monument of the Liberation, a work of the artist from Caen Yvonne Guégan, located in Ouistreham.
Monument symbolic of the Liberation, inaugurated on June 6, 1984, and work of the Cognac artist Yvonne Guégan. It is engraved with the names of the 177 French commandos placed under the command of Commander Philippe Kieffer. On the monument, on 6 June 2019, a granite statue of Commander Kieffer joined the bronze one, dedicated to Lord Lovat, inaugurated in May 2014 as a tribute to the Scottish general who landed on D-Day at the head of 2,500 green berets, including, precisely, the1st Battalion of Marine Fusiliers Commandos of Commander Kieffer.

Respect aux commando marine
Pour qui va à Ouistreham, il convient de parcourir la plage de Riva Bella et de se souvenir des français des commando marine qui ont débarqué le 6 juin 44. Au delà du monument de "la Flamme", des photographies mêlant l'histoire et les hommages plus récents ponctuent cette promenade du souvenir.
