In Ouilly-le-Vicomte, the Château de Boutemont and its magnificently flower-filled gardens form a sumptuous backdrop. A real favorite!
We've fallen in love with this magnificent château, a former stronghold of the Duchy of Normandy, enlarged in the 16th century, and its park, crowned "most beautiful garden in Europe" in 2016. Today, you'll marvel at its salons, chapel, orangery (where you can enjoy a gourmet break!) and its nine-hectare gardens, designed in the early 20th century by the great landscape architect Achille Duchêne. He drew inspiration from Le Nôtre's topiary art to bring symmetry and precision to the level of an art of living.

The Château and Gardens of Boutemont offer a magnificent setting in Ouilly-le-Vicomte. This site, steeped in history, was built during the Norman conquest of England in the 11th century. The house, built between the 16th and 17th centuries, includes a Gothic drawing room, a gallery and a lodge. Built in 1880 in neo-Gothic style, the chapel is also open to visitors. As for its remarkable gardens, designed by renowned landscape architects such as Achille Duchêne, they are perfect for a stroll or a relaxing moment with the family. They include a reflecting pond, a love garden, a white garden and more. A pixie hut with a children's trail is also available on the site as well as a creperie tea room. A great address to discover!

Nous avons déjeuné au restaurant, jolie terrasse ombragée, cadre idyllique. Nourriture simple mais fraîche. Prix très corrects.
Un pain plus « artisanal» serait appréciable mais c’est un détail :)
Une promenade d'environ 2h parmi les ifs, les topiaires,les cyprès et dans des paysages de massifs fleuris,et arborés,tantôt ordonnés,tantôt sauvages.
Le parcours est propice à la déambulation et la flânerie ponctué par des arrêts,d'où l'on peut apercevoir des vues panoramiques du château sous différents aspects,et les petits édifices tels que la chapelle et la maison des Nains...
Un bel endroit trop méconnu,valorisé par le travail des horticulteurs et l'accueil empathique de la réception,qui mérite ses 5*****.
Quant au château, même s'il nous semble que la partie ouverte au public soit petite, elle reste néanmoins magnifique.
Une belle surprise, et je recommande la crêperie.
