EPIC THE IRISH EMIGRATION MUSEUM
A heart-warming, entertaining and interactive tour of 21 underground galleries, brought to life on giant screens.
Located in the must-see, fast-changing new Docklands district (not far from the Great Famine Memorial), this museum on the Irish diaspora is one of our favorites in the Irish capital. Opened in May 2016, it's housed in a vast building constructed between 1817 and 1820, a former tobacco, tea and spirits warehouse, called the CHQ Building. And this museum is one of the few in the world with a fully digitized exhibition.
The program includes a touching, entertaining and interactive tour through 21 underground galleries, animated by giant screens. In short, a unique setting for a very realistic immersion in Irish culture, from the history of pubs to that of music, via the Great Famine, dance, sport, art and, above all, the (often) terrible migrations that led the Irish diaspora to other lands, notably Boston in the USA... You'll also be surprised to discover the Irish origins of some well-known personalities... But we'll let you be the first to know! Another original EPIC initiative is the take-home passport, which must be stamped in every room visited. Admission isn't free, but more than just a visit, it's a truly worthwhile experience! Allow two hours (without getting bored) for this unique immersion in Irish culture. An unmissable visit!
