An elegant monument, the most representative of the Georgian era, with the former House of Lords decorated with tapestries.
The Bank of Ireland is certainly the most representative monument of the Georgian period. This huge building was built between 1729 and 1739 to house the Irish Parliament. Today, the Irish Parliament is in Leinster House and this elegant monument was purchased by the Bank of Ireland. Of particular interest is a visit to the former House of Lords, which has remained almost intact, all in oak, decorated with 17th century tapestries, a beautiful coffered ceiling and a chandelier dating from the 13th century.
