This pleasant address adds to the long list of the Irish capital's oldest pubs. It's not the oldest, of course, but it has retained its original Victorian layout - with its famous compartmentalized wooden nooks and crannies - and mahogany doors with stained-glass windows, giving it a certain charm. The carpeted staircase leads to a cosy room that's felt like home since its creation in 1803. And it's easy to see how the pub can be such an integral part of Irish daily life.
