The small town of Tanumshede is famous for the exceptional rock engravings that were discovered nearby in the village of Vitlycke (from Tanumshede, follow the signs to the Vitlycke Museum). This site, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, has many huge stones with engravings dating from the Bronze Age and telling the story of the region several millennia ago.
