This village of 2,500 inhabitants, 356 km from Jokkmokk, is located on the inland train line called Inlandsbanan, which crosses Sweden from Östersund in the south to Gällivare. With a few hotels, a youth hostel and a campsite by Lake Storemansjön, Storuman can be a stopover on the north-south journey. It is also a strategic stop along the E12 that leads you to Norway, to Mo i Rana to be precise. The station is a long dark brown wooden building built in the 1920's which houses a restaurant. Nothing grand to visit, but a charm inherent to the village, with its winter calm and its thousand summer colors.
