MARCHÉ SÂME DE JOKKMOKK

It's the biggest Saami festival in the world! Many talented artisans gather to exhibit their wares at this event celebrating Saami know-how. It's the ideal place to find quality local crafts, and to meet the local population. Established by Charles IX of Sweden in 1605, it was used to monitor the goods traded, so that they could then be taxed even more! Today, the market has grown in size, and other cultural events are also held on the same weekend.
