The village, located 5 km north of the Arctic Circle, lines its low wooden houses surrounded by gardens along Storgatan, the main street, which is lined with towering birch trees. Around the village, a sea of forests and swamps is a paradise for hunters, berry pickers and wildlife. The forest is the main source of income for this community of 5,000 people. The Muddus National Park, located east of the village within the township, is home to pristine forests where trees have never been cut down. The oldest tree in Sweden, a pine over 730 years old, is also found here.As in most places in Lapland, winter in Jokkmokk is dedicated to activities such as snowmobiling, dog sledding, adventures with reindeer and the Sami people... In the summer, you can go on beautiful hikes, to meet the Lappish culture. But what makes this place special is without a doubt the annual winter market. Finally, let's not forget all these craftsmen, and the famous Ajtte museum!
