GÄLLIVARE MUSEUM

A museum that traces the history of the region since man first settled here. Three large rooms on the third floor take visitors on a journey from the forest, with its wolves and trappers, to a typical^19th-century Norrbotten house. Period objects, stuffed animals and a soundtrack make for a pleasant little visit. The evolution of iron ore mining over more than a century is also explained, as is the calamity of the mosquito in the region! The second floor features a store and a collection of antique cameras.
