While this park on the south side of the island of Södermalm is well worth a visit for its pretty harbour and wild atmosphere, it's the "Koloniträdgård" ("colonial garden") that is its main attraction. In the 19thcentury , as the population of the towns grew denser and the supply of fruit and vegetables became increasingly difficult and costly, the idea was born of providing residents with plots of land on which to grow their own. The result is a delightful maze of 143 huts and lush gardens. A country feel in the heart of the city.
