In Lokossa, the capital of the Mono department, one enters the territory of the Adja, close cousins of the Fon of the city of Abomey. The city hosts a regional market and the departmental administrations. You can see some vestiges of the colonial administration, but Lokossa is essentially a stopover town on the way from Lake Ahémé (or Grand-Popo) to Abomey and, incidentally, the starting point for trips to the Mono River. To get there from Comé, take Route Nationale 2 to the royal city of Abomey, which is located about 40 km from Lokossa. The road passes through a hilly and green area
