The Fishing Road is a very long stretch of sand of about forty kilometers that connects Cotonou to the historic city of Ouidah. On one side, this road runs along the often tumultuous sea with its immense fine sand beaches. On the other, it skims the lagoon lined with palm trees and fields. On both sides, the fishermen are there. It is obviously not the Fishing Road for nothing! You may see them, early in the morning, setting out to attack the bar on their small boats or, during the day, throwing their nets into the lagoons. On Sundays, on the other hand, the Fishing Road is very popular with the Cotonois, who come to the beaches and organize, on occasion, parties, religious ceremonies or weddings. Because the place is very pleasant. Although the sea is dangerous, as it is everywhere in Benin, it is possible to swim if you are content to splash around carefully near the shore. Near Cotonou, at the beginning of the road, beach bars and restaurants have multiplied since the road was paved. A major transformation that will continue as the tar is expected to reach Ouidah in the coming years
