Just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace, Pasar Klewer is the largest textile market in Central Java. Fabrics from Solo mingle with wonders from Yogya, Cirebon and Pekalongan. The market is also brimming with traditional local dress, from ceremonial outfits to jackets, headdresses and belts. With no fewer than 2,200 stalls, you're sure to be spoilt for choice. On the fourth floor, there's a food court where you can feast on local flavours. Here, haggling is the order of the day, a veritable national sport in which you have to elbow your way to the top.
