Cilacap is located practically on the border between West Java and Central Java. The main stopover between Pangandaran and Yogyakarta, it is the only deep-water port on the entire South Java coast, giving it significant industrial and commercial advantages. Apart from a boat trip from Pangandaran to Cilacap, we don't recommend a visit to the town itself.A massive citadel was erected by the Dutch at the entrance to the port in 1879. No collections are on display. You can visit it with a guide, but be sure to bring good shoes. Teluk Penyu beach is dirty and crowded.
