VILLAGE DE FROÐBA

Visit Points of interest

Froðba lies at the northern end of the Trogisvágsfjørður fjord. The village is amalgamated with the port town of Tvøroyri. It is divided into the smaller towns of Hamri, Undir Skorum, Støðlunum, Torvheyggur and Bøur. Bøur, known as "Úti á Bø", is the oldest inhabited area of Froðba, which is also the oldest village in the Faroe Islands. A legendary Danish king, Frode or Fróði, is said to have landed here and founded the village that bears his name.

Nearby is a superb spot: Cape Froðbiarnípa and its singular peak called Báradrangur. From the water's edge, you can see the spectacular basalt stone columns. These formations are a geological discovery specific to Suðuroy. They are well known and can also be seen above the village of Hov.
