Deposed by the Danish nobility who elected Frederik I in his place in 1523, after having taken refuge in the Netherlands, he was locked up for life in this castle. Eckersberg's paintings; Schleswig-Holstein museum which allows a better understanding of the violence of the battles and the destruction suffered by the city; Renaissance chapel decorated by Queen Dorothea - end of the 16th century.
