GAVNØ CASTLE (GAVNØ SLOT)

A pirate hideout in the ^13th century, this isolated manor was transformed into a convent by Queen Margrethe^I at the end of the ^16th century, and then into a superb yellow and white rococo castle in the ^18th century, owned by the owner of the private music radio station The Voice, number 1 in Copenhagen. Part of the huge collection of paintings was sold to pay the inheritance tax, but many of them remain in the part of the castle open to the public.
