When to go à COPENHAGUE ?

Even if the warm weather seems to be the best time of year - the sun never seems to want to set, temperatures are mild, the light is magnificent, the weather is perfect for swimming and light-heartedness - autumn and winter also have their moments, especially around Halloween and Christmas. This is when hygge envelops you in its softness. The city lights up and gardens become XXL skating rinks!

Generally mild and humid, the climate in Copenhagen is oceanic, with no great cold or heat, even if sometimes in summer the mercury can reach 30°C. In short, a little wool in all seasons and an umbrella will be essential in your suitcase. The months of July, August and September are particularly pleasant: the light is superb, the temperatures are mild and the proximity of the sea provides a refreshing breeze.

You can discover Copenhagen in summer as well as in winter. Each season allows you to appreciate the city from different angles. Here are some tips on when to go to Copenhagen.

High tourist season: The most pleasant season is summer, even if there are (too) many tourists. At this time, the days are long and the light is beautiful. On the whole, the period between May and September is the best time to visit the city: the terraces fill up, walkers and cyclists are more numerous, and festivals follow one another. The Danish capital is proud to have been the European capital of jazz: the main cultural event of the city, the jazz festival organized every year in July, welcomes on stage "big names" and thousands of fans. In addition, Copenhagen often hosts important international events: no need to hope to find a room several miles away.

Low tourist season : From a financial point of view, the winter months are the most interesting time to stay in Copenhagen, as hotels sometimes offer significant discounts. But budget is not everything, and it is important to know that it can be cold (and especially wet) and that night falls very quickly. At the beginning of October, the city hibernates, so to speak, until the arrival of Christmas (and the opening of the Tivoli Gardens in mid-November).

Discover COPENHAGUE

How can you not be seduced by Copenhagen? A seemingly discreet city, with a timeless elegance, sometimes terribly disciplined... but beneath the ice, the fire of modernity and the challenges to be met expresses itself in the audacity of a city that has always affirmed that the impossible is not Danish! The city's commitment to its ecological convictions is reflected in its eco-districts, which stand out like banners to the world, and in the development of cycling and public transport. Culture for all is an integral part of its daily life, in urban and institutional spaces alike. Art and design, both innovative and classic, are omnipresent, occupying imposing buildings that mark the history of the city with a capital H. That's why, in 2023, Copenhagen was chosen as the World Capital of Architecture to host the UIA-Unesco International Congress.
