The capital of the Vrancea județ is not overflowing with tourist attractions. But it's the first town in Moldavia if you're coming from Bucharest. And if you want to visit the Vrancea mountains, you'll have to pass through here. The town is organized around a central square housing the town hall, the theater and a large concrete hotel. Focșani is at the heart of a renowned wine region: Cotești, Panciu, Nicorești... In Odobești, you can enjoy a tasting at the Princely Cellar (Beciul Domnesc), built under Ștefan cel Mare, in the 15th century! Listed by Unesco, it contains over 100,000 bottles, the oldest dating back to 1949.
